It started with customer service …

In May 1968 when Mike Kelleher and his wife, Marie, rented a one-room office at 1209 N. Boulevard, there was no question that the fledgling company would bear the family name -- KELLEHER OIL HEAT.

After completing technical training courses in heating and air conditioning, sons Pat and Joe focused on developing a high level of customer service. “Little George” Noel, brandishing an unforgettable customer-friendly personality, served KELLEHER’s burgeoning customer base with timely oil deliveries. Marie sent out personalized marketing and thank-you letters to strengthen relationships and grow the company. The time and money invested in this grass-roots effort would pay off in the years ahead.

… progressed to air conditioning …

The oil embargo of 1973 caused Kelleher to broaden its customer service menu to complement ducted heating-only systems with add-on air conditioning. For homes with radiators and limited closet space, Kelleher installed Space Pak and later Unico micro duct central cooling systems.

… and branched out to electrical and plumbing services…

Kelleher’s electrical department, originally developed by technical department head Chuck Greenberg to upgrade electrical systems and controls for air conditioning, branched out to include a wide range of residential wiring installations and solutions. Kelleher plumbers broadened the company’s earlier focus on installations of hot water and steam heating equipment to include general plumbing involving gas piping, fixtures and faucets.

The company name was ultimately amended to KELLEHER Heating/Oil, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical to reflect the broadened range of services offered.

… while maintaining a family focus.

After Mike passed away in 2006 while still active in the business at the age of 94, KELLEHER’s Board of Directors elected Marie to succeed him as board chair. A record-breaking competitive swimmer, she can be found in her office most days after starting the day off with a half-mile or so of lap swimming.

Second-generation family and officers include President/Treasurer Joe, with the accounting assistance of his wife, Maria, and Vice President Pat. VP’s Little George Noel and Chuck Greenberg lead the heating oil and technical departments respectively.

Three of Pat’s sons and a stepson represent the third generation of Kelleher family members in the company. Two are vice presidents, Brian in charge of quality control and Erin overseeing equipment installation sales. Barry solves customer technical service problems, and Adam Farmer installs and services heating and cooling equipment.

Our mission statement: To provide homeowners and small businesses with the finest-quality central heating and oil, cooling, plumbing and electrical/solar products and services at a reasonable price.
